Police have arrested a man who allegedly waved a loaded gun outside an Evansville restaurant.
Police were called to the Taco Bell at 1001 N. Green River Road Monday night.
In a release, EPD Sgt. Nick Winsett said officers quickly located the suspect in his vehicle and from a safe distance, officers told him to exit his car.
Police say he initially refused and made several requests for officers to shoot him.
The EPD says the suspect, later identified as 26-year-old D. Yawn Dontae Griffin eventually got out of the car and began doing pushups on the parking lot, before finally complying with officers’ commands.
After taking Griffin into custody, police said they found a loaded handgun, six handgun magazines, and 117 rounds of ammunition in Griffin’s vehicle.
He was taken to the Vanderburgh County jail on a preliminary charge of Felony Intimidation with a Deadly Weapon.
The EPD said Griffin had a valid Conceal Carry License.
