Evansville Police are investigating a shooting that left a girl wounded.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the parking lot of the Cedar Trace Apartments in the 2200 block of N. Seventh Avenue Saturday evening

In a release, the EPD said officers spoke to several tenants who said they heard shots outside their apartments.

Officers found several spent shell casings and glass from a vehicle in the parking lot.

One witness said a small passenger car fled from the lot after the shooting.

About an hour later, two juveniles showed up at a local hospital, and one of them had a gunshot wound to an upper extremity.

They told authorities they were in the parking lot of the Cedar Trace Apartments when a suspect began shooting at their vehicle, striking the driver.

The victim is expected to survive her injuries.

Anyone with more information on the shooting is urged to contact Evansville Police.
