EPD: Watch for Fake Traffic Tickets

EPD

Evansville Police are warning of a traffic ticket scam.

On its Facebook page, the EPD posted a picture of a doctored and fictitious traffic ticket received by a local resident.

It tells the receiver they had been cited for a traffic violation and have 72 hours to pay the fine.

It instructs the alleged violator to pay though the Easy Pay system.

But the EPD says it does not use Easy Pay.

The department also says any citation from the EPD will include instructions on who to contact in the Vanderburgh County Courts, and it will show the issuing officer’s name and badge number.

Police urge residents to pay close attention to the mail and contact the EPD if you suspect fraudulent activity.
