The Vanderburgh County Coroner has determined the cause of death after a man was found in a west side pond.

The body of 50-year-old Brian Ricketts of Evansville was found in the pond near the Brickyard Apartments on Wednesday.

In a release, Coroner Steve Lockyear said Ricketts died of drowning, but the manner of death – whether it was an accident, homicide, or other type of incident -- is still under investigation.

Both Evansville Police and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources are investigating the death.

The EPD said a passerby was walking his dog when he noticed the body in the water near the bank of the lake behind 720 Riverstone Court.
