One Wounded, One Jailed After Shooting Near Bosse Field

File

One man is in custody and another is in the hospital after a shooting near Evansville’s Bosse Field.

Police were dispatched to a report of shots fired at 23 Don Mattingly Way after Evansville Firefighters, who happened to be on a call nearby, called 911.

In a release, the EPD said firefighters found an unresponsive man with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Firefighters performed lifesaving measures on the victim until an ambulance arrived to take him to a hospital.

There’s no word on his name or condition.

The EPD said officers secured the crime scene, recovered evidence, and spoke to witnesses who led them to a home in the 500 block of Maxwell Avenue – where police arrested 23-year-old Brent Austin Ferguson.

Ferguson was pre-charged with Aggravated Battery and is detained at the Vanderburgh County Corrections Center.
