A driver distracted by a cell phone is blamed for a crash that involved an Evansville school bus.
The three-vehicle crash happened at about 7:30 Friday morning at the intersection of Diamond Avenue and State Road 65.
In a release, the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s said an eastbound car on Diamond ran a red light and collided with a southbound car, which then hit an EVSC bus.
The sheriff’s office said one child was on the bus at the time but was not injured.
The only person injured in the crash was the driver of the car that was hit.
The sheriff’s office said the injuries were not life-threatening.
Deputies said the driver of the car on Diamond admitted he was using a cell phone at the time of the crash.
He was ticketed for Use of a Telecommunications Device While Operating a Vehicle and Disregarding a Traffic Light.
