ISP: Man Stopped After Driving 107 MPH on U.S.41

File

A young Newburgh man is in custody after a police chase in Gibson County.

Indiana State Police say a trooper was patrolling on US 41 near County Road 925 South Wednesday evening when he observed a car driving northbound at 107 mph.

In a release, the ISP said the trooper activated his emergency lights and tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver continued to speed north on 41.

Police said the driver, later identified as 19-year-old Cameron Shepherd,  turned east onto Coal Mine Road before the trooper found the vehicle parked in front of a house.

The ISP said Shepherd was ordered out of the vehicle and arrested without further incident.

Police said the vehicle’s registration was expired and Shepherd didn’t have insurance for the vehicle.

He faces charges of Resisting Law Enforcement and Reckless Driving.
