The second vaccine approved for emergency use on the coronavirus has arrived in our area.

The Moderna vaccine, approved for emergency use late last week, arrived Tuesday morning in Henderson County.

According to Brian Spencer, who is the pharmacy line manager for Deaconess Henderson Hospital, they received six hundred doses of the Moderna vaccine from the Kentucky Department for Public Health. Spencer says they are scheduled to receive weekly shipments of the vaccine, but he could not say how many doses will be in each shipment.

The Vanderburgh County Health Department is scheduled to begin getting shipments of the Moderna vaccine, but as of Tuesday afternoon had not yet received any.

The first public doses of the Moderna vaccine are scheduled to be given Wednesday morning at Deaconess Henderson Hospital.
