COVID Deaths Rise Again in Southwest IN and Western KY

Three more COVID-related deaths are reported in southwest Indiana, along with five new fatalities in western Kentucky.

The Indiana State Department of Health announced deaths in Vanderburgh, Dubois, and Spencer counties on its Tuesday dashboard.

The agency also reported 93 new infections in Vanderburgh. The county is approaching 14,000 cases since March.

No new COVID-related deaths were reported in Warrick, Posey, or Gibson counties.

Vanderburgh’s death toll reached 182, the Dubois County death toll climbed to 39, and Spencer County has now seen eleven fatalities.

The number of hospitalized COVID patients in southwest Indiana rose to 280 while the percentage of available intensive care beds in the 12-county region slipped to about 15 percent.

Statewide, Indiana saw one of its biggest jumps in the death toll – 143 – pushing the state beyond 7,200 fatalities.

The Green River District Health Department added five COVID-related deaths: three in Ohio County and two in Webster County.

The department also tallied more than 200 new infections in the seven-county district.

The number of hospitalized COVID patients fell to 37.
