The wait continues for final election results in Vanderburgh County.
County Clerk Carla Hayden said 50 workers counted all the mail-in ballots on Election Day.
Votes cast in-person on Tuesday were also tabulated.
But about 40,000 ballots cast at early voting sites still needed to be removed from envelopes and counted – a process that was supposed to start Wednesday morning.
Hayden told WNIN News removing the ballots from envelopes is time-consuming…
"All those envelopes in the early voting do have to be opened by hand, but then they're separated from the envelope and run through a high-speed tabulator."
Hayden said the early voting set a record.
