Indicted Teen Murder Suspect Arrested

EPD

Authorities have arrested an Evansville man accused of killing a teenage girl six years ago.

15-year-old Megan Nichols disappeared in 2014 and was considered a missing person until her remains were found four years later in a rural area of Wayne County, Illinois.

Two weeks ago, a Wayne County grand jury indicted 34-year-old Brodey Murbarger of Evansville for the girl’s murder.

In a release, Evansville Police said detectives with the Indiana State Police, Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, and the EPD arrested Murbarger outside his place of employment without incident Wednesday.

Police said a search warrant was executed at Murbarger’s home in the Lakewood West apartment complex.

Then, officers took him to the Vanderburgh County jail where he will await extradition to Illinois.

If you have any information on the circumstances of Megan Nichol’s death, you’re urged to contact the FBI at 217-522-9675.
