Warrick County has reported two more COVID-related deaths, while infections continue to mount in Vanderburgh County.

Warrick County Coroner Sarah Seaton told WNIN both victims were residents of hard-hit Woodmont Health in Boonville.

Seaton said an 82-year-old woman died Wednesday and a 90-year-old woman passed Thursday morning.

The latest deaths raised the toll at Woodmont to ten.

Overall, Warrick County has now seen 49 COVID-related fatalities.

The Indiana State Department of Heath announced 61 new COVID infections in Vanderburgh County, but no new deaths.

The recent surge prompted the state to put Vanderburgh, Warrick, and Spencer counties in the “orange” category, one level below the highest infection level of red.

Thursday’s report also showed a spike of 45 new cases in Pike County.

The number of hospitalized patients in southwest Indiana fell a bit to 155.

Statewide, Indiana saw 13 new deaths and about 1,170 new infections.

The Green River District Health Department recorded 43 new cases in its seven-county district – 22 of them in Daviess County – but no new fatalities.
