Vanderburgh County has set a single-day record for new COVID-19 infections, and two more deaths are reported in western Kentucky.
The Indiana State Department of Health reported 73 new cases in the county on its Friday dashboard.
The increase pushed Vanderburgh County’s infection total beyond 3,600.
138 COVID patients were in the hospital.
The county’s death toll held at 30.
47 new infections were recorded in Warrick County, where the death toll held at 38.
Statewide, the department reported 18 new deaths and nearly 1,200 new infections.
In western Kentucky, the Green River Health District announced a new fatality in Daviess County and another in Union County.
65 new infections were reported in the district’s seven-county region, with 18 patients hospitalized.
Many areas have seen increases since the Labor Day weekend and the start of the school year.
