A $1 million grant will help the University of Evansville with online education.
In a release, UE said the grant from Lilly Endowment will enhance its online education efforts, which have become more important amid the coronavirus pandemic.
UE president Christopher Pietruszkiewicz called it a “generous gift” that will help the university transform its educational experience.
Pietruszkiewicz said UE will create an Office of Strategic Technology and Online Learning.
It will include a director and two full-time assistant directors to lead the University's efforts in developing online education with the same experience offered through the in-person learning.
Pietruszkiewicz said faculty will have access to training opportunities and one-on-one support as they develop online courses.
Classrooms will also be renovated to broadcast to regional businesses, adult learners working remotely, and international locations -- including China and India.
UE transitioned to online learning last spring, when the COVID-19 pandemic took off.
Students returned to the Evansville campus last month.
