Mother, 2 Children Died in Crash

File

The three victims of Monday’s fiery crash on Highway 41 have been identified as an Evansville mother and her two children.

The Vanderburgh County Coroner says 36-year-old Crystal Lawrence, 15-year-old Abigail Lawrence, and six-year-old Chase Lawrence died in the crash at 41 and Covert Avenue.

In a release, Coroner Steve Lockyear said all three died on impact.

Evansville Police say a pickup truck driven by 42-year-old Damon Rae Busby of Henderson slammed into the rear of Lawrence’s SUV, igniting a fire.

EPD Sgt. Nick Winsett told the Courier and Press that Busby will face three counts of reckless homicide.

He’s still hospitalized, being treated for injuries from the crash.

Winsett said witnesses told officers Busby ran a red light at Riverside Drive before hitting Lawrence’s SUV.

Winsett said there were no skid marks at the crash scene.
