An Owensboro man is accused of stabbing a police officer.

Police say it happened just after 4:00 Sunday afternoon in the 700 block of Walnut in Owensboro.

In a release, the OPD said officers were trying to take 31-year-old Harold Sanders into custody for an outstanding warrant when he became combative, produced a knife, and stabbed an officer in the face.

Officers arrested Sanders, who will be charged with Attempted Murder of a Police Officer, Disorderly Conduct, and Resisting Arrest – in addition to his outstanding warrant.

Owensboro Police said the officer’s injuries were not life-threatening.
