Police have arrested a Jasper man after a high speed, start-and-stop pursuit.
Indiana State Police say a trooper spotted a car traveling at 95 mph on US 231 in northern Spencer County Wednesday afternoon.
In a release, the ISP says the trooper tried to stop the speeding car, but the driver initially sped away.
Police said the vehicle then stopped, and as the trooper approached the vehicle the driver hit the gas.
The trooper caught up to the vehicle at State Road 62, and police said the driver stopped and fled again.
The chase moved to I-64 as the trooper and other officers tried to stop the car.
Police say the vehicle exited the interstate at a rest park, where the driver reportedly got out of the car and ran into a field.
The ISP said the trooper apprehended the driver a short distance from the rest area.
The suspect was identified as 24-year-old Isiah Stokes of Jasper, who was wanted on warrants for Domestic Battery and a probation violation.
Police took Stokes to the Spencer County Jail, where he faces more charges.
