"Person of Interest" in Doerr Killing Pleads Guilty to Weapons Charges

EPD

A man described by police as a ‘person of interest’ in the death of an Evansville firefighter has pleaded guilty to weapons charges.

Evansville Police say Larry Richmond, Sr. entered guilty pleas in federal court on Wednesday.

In a release, the EPD said Richmond pleaded guilty to two counts of a felon in possession of a firearm and two counts of possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.

Police said Richmond is a convicted serious violent felon who is also a person of interest in the murder of firefighter Robert Doerr.

The 51-year-old Doerr was shot to death outside his North Side home in February 2019.

Police have said Richmond had a relationship with the Doerr family.

The EPD asks anyone with more information on the Doerr case to call police or the WeTip line at 800-78-CRIME.
