An off-duty Evansville Police officer has been arrested on drunken driving charges following a crash at a gas station.

In a release, the EPD said officers responded to the Chuckles station at Fares and Virginia at about 1:20 Monday morning for a report of a Jeep that had hit a pole on the lot.

The EPD said officers investigated the accident and arrested off-duty officer Jarid Harris.

Police said Harris was driving his own personal vehicle at the time of the crash.

He faces preliminary charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and refusal to submit to a breathalyzer test.

The EPD said Harris works motor patrol for the department.
