UE Postpones Commencement to 2021

The University of Evansville has again postponed its 2020 graduation ceremony.

UE President Christopher Pietruszkiewicz announced the 2020 Commencement that had been pushed to September 19th is now scheduled for May 2021.

Pietruszkiewicz said his decision did not come lightly and was based on current trends in the COVID-19 virus across the nation, as well as Governor Eric Holcomb’s order, limiting the number of attendees to 250.

Holcomb’s order is due to expire August 27th, but it’s expected to be extended or modified.

Pietruszkiewicz said UE did not want to disappoint the 2020 Graduates with a “delay at the last minute.”

He said every graduating class at UE deserves their special day, and the university is committed to ensuring it happens -- even if they must wait a few months more.

Pietruszkiewicz emphasized commencement is not cancelled – just postponed. And he said UE will still conduct a Virtual Graduate Recognition Day on September 19th.
