Evansville Police are investigating the death of an infant.

Officers, AMR Ambulance, and Evansville Firefighters were called to the 2500 block of Sunburst Blvd. at about noon Sunday, when a seven-week-old child was reportedly unresponsive.

In a release, EPD Sgt. Nick Winsett said first responders immediately tried to resuscitate the baby, but the boy was pronounced dead a short time later.

Winsett said the child had been sleeping with his mother, when he was found unconcious.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of the child or mother.
