An Evansville woman is dead and another person is seriously injured following a crash on the North Side.
Vanderburgh County Coroner Steve Lockyear says Candice Dodson of Evansville died in Wednesday’s crash on State Road 57 near the entrance to Evansville Regional Airport.
In a release, EPD Sgt. Nick Winsett said Dodson attempted to make a u-turn on 57 -- and turned directly into the path of an oncoming semi.
The impact killed Dodson. Winsett said a passenger in the SUV was “clinging to life” when transported to a hospital.
The truck driver was not injured.
Coroner Lockyear said an autopsy was scheduled for Thursday evening.
Police closed State Road 57 for several hours on Wednesday as investigators reconstructed the crash.
