Evansville’s mask order has been extended for another week.

On Facebook Wednesday, Mayor Lloyd Winnecke said the city was reissuing the executive order for another seven days as officials continue to monitor the community's response to COVID-19.

Winnecke said he made the decision based on the elevated day-to-day data and the advice of his Medical Advisory Group.

He said his administration and other organizations are providing a lot during the pandemic, including testing, contact tracing, and best practices on how to reopen.

Winnecke said it's simple: wear a mask, engage in proper social distancing, and practice good hygiene.

The Evansville City Council is considering its own mask ordinance, and may vote on it Monday evening.
