The pandemic has claimed another local music festival.

ParksFest 2020 has been canceled.

On Facebook, planners said they hoped the region would be in a better position by now to welcome thousands of people into Garvin Park for the annual day of free music.

But they say they cannot safely hold ParksFest this year, due to concern for the health and safety of the community, performers, participants, and staff.

Like many festivals that have fallen victim to COVID-19, ParksFest planners are looking forward to next year.

The festival is now set for Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021.
