Police Arrest Man for Alleged Video Threat Against Chief, Mayor

EPD

Evansville Police have arrested a local protest organizer after he was seen in a video threatening police and the mayor.

In a release, the EPD says 25-year-old Ebon Ellis faces four counts of felony intimidation.

Police say Ellis made threats against the lives of Officer Phillip Smith, Chief Billy Bolin and Mayor Lloyd Winnecke in a Facebook Live video.

They say he also asked others to carry out acts of violence against the public officials.

In a separate video, Ellis allegedly threatened City Council President Alex Burton.

As officers arrested Ellis Wednesday, they said he continued to make threats against those public officials.

He was taken to the Vanderburgh County jai.
