Ribbon Cut on Downtown Deaconess Clinic

John Gibson

Mayor Lloyd Winnecke and Deaconess CEO Shawn McCoy led a socially-distanced ribbon cutting, opening the new Deaconess Clinic in Downtown Evansville.

The new three-story clinic at 120 Southeast 4th St. is near the new Stone Family Center for Health Sciences.

Winnecke recalled years ago, talking with leaders about trying to develop the facilities…

"What if  the city could acquire land, and what if we could get these universities to come together and work collaboratively, and what if we could get the medical partners around the Tri-State to work collaboratively, and here we are today.”

Deaconess Vice President Dr. Allen White said the new center replaces the existing clinic on Locust St…

"We're going to have primary care physicians of internal medicine and pediatrics, endocronology, dermatology, rhumatology, neurology, behavioral health."

Dr. Jamie Mull said Deaconess will work with the Stone Center on research, including artificial intelligence…

"Medical AI can assist doctors in confirmation of diagnoses, as well as helping with remote treatment delivery and decision support.”

An express clinic inside the new facility is expected to open October 1.

Doctors will be moving into the new Deaconess Clinic over the next five weeks.
