Man Arrested After Shooting, Standoff

File

Evansville Police arrested a shooting suspect after a standoff at his home.

The EPD says a man arrived at a local hospital Monday afternoon with a gunshot wound to his leg.

He told officials at the hospital that he was shot by 43-year-old Joshua Dale Williams during an argument on the city’s East Side.

In a release, the EPD said Williams had a felony warrant for intimidation from an incident a few weeks prior.

Officers later located Williams at his home at 213 E. Missouri, where two independent witnesses said he was inside and was likely armed.

The EPD said a perimeter was set up and negotiators were called to contact Williams.

A search warrant was obtained for the home while Williams remained barricaded.

Police said negotiators got Williams to surrender peacefully, and he was taken into custody at about 11:30 Monday night.

Williams faces felony charges of battery committed with a deadly weapon and intimidation.
