ROMP officials tell WNIN that they had held out hope that the postponed festival could be held later this fall. But early Tuesday, the announcement came that it will be canceled entirely for 2020.
It’s official. There will be no ROMP festival in Owensboro in 2020.
In a release, the Bluegrass Music Hall of fame and Museum says the ROMP festival will be back in 2021, with the dates set for June 23-26 at its normal venue, Yellow Creek Park, just east of Owensboro.
Ticket holders for ROMP can get them transferred to the 2021 festival, donate the value to the hall of fame and museum, or get a full refund. You can select any of the options at the festival's website.
As the festival’s radio partner, WNIN will air a virtual ROMP, starting at 9pm on Friday, June 26 . Song Show host Brick Briscoe will combine interviews with several of the scheduled 2020 ROMP performers with live music from past festivals during the two hour program.
