A heavily traveled bridge on Evansville’s West Side has reopened.
Vanderburgh County officials say the Columbia–Delaware Bridge over Pigeon Creek and a CSX rail line is now open to traffic.
Concrete work on the span was slated to begin in March and wrap up in April but high water levels along Pigeon Creek slowed the project.
High water continued to hamper the work on the bridge’s piers until the completion date was pushed into June.
Now the work is done, providing the third route over both the creek and the rail line on the city’s West Side.
The other two are the Lloyd Expressway and Diamond Avenue.
