Several hundred people received food items at an event at the Christian Fellowship Church on Millersburg Road in Vanderburgh County.

About 650 boxes of non-perishable food items were handed out during a food giveaway at the church Saturday. Vehicles were lined up by 7am for the nine o’clock start time.

Nicole Lisembee of Evansville said she expects to be back at work within a week or so as her employer opens back up, but the cupboard is bare right now.

Lisembee said, “We have no one working in the house for about two months now. I have three kids at home.”

CFC executive pastor Mike Deeg said the event is a natural for their congregation.

Deeg said, “It’s a little bit kind of our sweet spot, if you want to say, as a church that we believe that everybody deserves food and that’s a basic right.”

There is still some food available. You can callChristian Fellowship Church at 812.867.6464 for more information.
