The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed another local event.
Officials have cancelled the Vanderburgh County Fair, which was scheduled for July at the 4-H Center.
On the fair’s Facebook page, the event’s Board of Directors said it made the “hard decision” after in-depth and careful consideration of federal, state, and local health guidelines.
The fair said the highest priority is the health and safety of attendees, volunteers, 4-H’ers, and their families.
As a self-funded event, officials also said it wouldn’t be financially feasible to adhere to current guidelines.
4-H members still have an opportunity to participate in a virtual fair that allows projects to be judged and put on display virtually.
The in-person 100th Vanderburgh County Fair is now scheduled to begin July 26, 2021.
