Police are asking for tips following a fatal shooting in Evansville.
Police were dispatched to the 100 block of W. Oregon St. for a shots-fired call at about 1:40 Tuesday morning.
The caller reported hearing six or seven shots.
In a release, the EPD said arriving officers were approached by several people who directed them to the shooting victim, 30-year-old Larry Wayne Merriweather Jr.
Merriweather was lying on the floor of a house with a gunshot wound to the chest.
AMR took him to Deaconess Midtown Hospital, where he later died.
Vanderburgh County Coroner Steve Lockyear said in a release that an autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
