Midget Links Closed, Dismantled

John Gibson

An Evansville attraction that entertained kids and adults for more than 70 years is being torn down.

Numerous social media photos show Midget Links being dismantled.

The miniature golf course on Morgan Avenue, near Fares, opened in 1947 – when Fares Avenue was Highway 41, very few people owned TVs, and nobody had video games.

The colorful course with its spinning windmill, a cannon, and draw bridge, had been on the market for a number of years.

It’s not clear what’s planned for the property.

Another Evansville landmark, the Crawford Door Building on Heidelbach Avenue, could face the wrecking ball.

The Board of Zoning Appeals is considering a rezoning of the property that could lead to its demolition and the construction of a proposed assisted living facility.

The building overlooks Bosse Field.

Zoning board action on the proposal has been pushed to June 18th.
