House Fire Displaces One Adult, Five Children

File

A child playing with fire is believed to have started a blaze at an Evansville apartment building.

Firefighters were dispatched to 3215 Vann Park Blvd, in the Vann Park Apartments, just before 9:00 Monday night.

In a release, Division Chief Mike Larson said when crews arrived they found fire in a second story closet.

Larson said firefighters contained the blaze to the closet area but smoke damaged other parts of the unit.

The initial report from an EFD investigator said the fire was likely started by a child playing with fire.

No injuries were reported but one adult and five kids were displaced.

The Red Cross was called to help them.
