Firefighters extinguished a church fire on Evansville’s Southeast Side.
A passerby called 9-1-1 at about 8:00 Monday night to report a possible fire at Apostolic Word of Truth Church at 3519 Kathleen Ave.
EFD Division Chief Mike Larson said when crews arrived, they found smoke coming from the attic area.
In a release, Larson said crews forced their way in and quickly contained the fire to the attic.
An initial report from an EFD investigator said it was an accidental fire likely caused by an electrical issue.
No one was injured.
