Authorities have released the identities of a mother and daughter found dead in their home, but the coroner has NOT issued a cause of death.
The Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office says an autopsy examination was completed Thursday in the deaths of 49-year-old Kimbra Shanafelt and her five-year-old daughter, Dahni Shanafelt.
The two were found deceased inside a duplex at 302 Bob Court Wednesday evening.
Coroner Steve Lockyear did not release a cause or manner of death.
In a release, Lockyear said both cases are pending toxicology results to determine the cause of death – which he said would take about three weeks.
The sheriff’s office called its investigation a double homicide. Investigators said they did not have a suspect.
The sheriff’s office said the bodies of the mother and child were found in separate parts of the home.
