Four Escape Burning Home

File

Four people escaped injury when a house caught fire on Evansville’s East Side.

Firefighters were dispatched to 305 S. Boeke at about 11:15 Tuesday morning.

In a release, Division Chief Mike Larson said crews found a large amount of fire in the rear of the home.

Larson said firefighters quickly contained the blaze and damage to the interior was minimal.

Vectren was called to cut power to the home and the Red Cross was contacted to help the 4 occupants who escaped unharmed.

Larson said an investigator’s initial report indicated smoldering debris or smoking materials in a trash can outside the home likely ignited the fire.

He said it will likely be ruled accidental.
