One young man is dead and another is in custody following a shooting in Rockport.
19-year-old Joseph Allen Petry is accused of fatally shooting 18-year-old Zane Lee in Rockport Wednesday night.
In a release, Indiana State Police said Spencer County Dispatch received a 911 call of shots fired in the area of Seminary and South 9th Street.
Sheriff’s deputies, Rockport City Police, and state troopers arrived to find Lee seriously wounded.
The ISP said officers administered life-saving measures until Spencer County EMS arrived and took over.
Lee was later pronounced dead.
An autopsy was scheduled for Thursday afternoon.
Petry faces a preliminary charge of murder and is being held at the Spencer County jail.
It’s not clear what led to the shooting.
