Wrong-Way Crash Kills 1, Injures 4

An elderly Owensboro resident died and four others were injured in a wrong-way crash in western Kentucky.

It happened Saturday night on the Wendell Ford Expressway in Daviess County.

A release from the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office stated a pickup truck traveling westbound on the highway collided with a car traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes.

The driver of the car, 93-year-old Maurice Magruder of Owensboro, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck, 29-year-old Preston Crist, passengers 26-year-old Anastasia Crist and a 2-year-old, all of Rockport, were taken to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

A 6-month-old in the vehicle, also of Rockport, was taken to Owensboro Health and then transferred to Norton’s Children’s Hospital in Louisville.

Investigators said alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the crash.
