Authorities say a man led police on a pursuit from downtown Evansville to Warrick County.
In a release, the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office said deputies, Evansville Police and Indiana State Police attempted to stop 24-year-old Zachary Tyler Young.
He was wanted on a probation revocation warrant and accused of stealing a car.
The sheriff’s office said Young fled from officers in the stolen vehicle when they tried to stop him at Riverside Drive and Chandler Avenue during the noon hour yesterday (Thur).
The release said Young fled at a high rate of speed and continued onto Pollack Avenue and headed east, into Warrick County.
The sheriff’s office said Young lost control of the vehicle in the 5900 block of Willowbrook Court, about a half-mile east of Angel Mounds.
The vehicle drove through residential yards before coming to a stop.
The sheriff’s office said Young continued to resist arrest as he was pulled from the vehicle.
Deputies and officers say they found 40 grams of suspected synthetic cannabinoids and 1.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine in the car.
Young was treated at a hospital and then taken to the Vanderburgh County jail.
