A truck carrying an oversized load hit an Evansville bridge, closing a portion of Highway 41.
The Indiana Department of Transportation said the incident occurred Tuesday afternoon and forced officials to close the southbound lanes of 41 at the Pigeon Creek Bridge.
Northbound lanes remain open.
INDOT engineers are inspecting the bridge to determine the extent of repairs needed to safely reopen the steel structure.
In the meantime, southbound 41 traffic is being detoured to the Diamond Avenue exit to bypass the bridge.
Drivers can re-enter southbound 41 from Diamond.
