The funeral for Dr. David Rice will be held on the USI campus.
Officials say visitation for the late university president will be held next Friday from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. inside Carter Hall.
The funeral service for Dr. Rice is set for the next day, Saturday, January 25th, at 2 p.m. also in Carter Hall, with visitation beginning at 1 p.m.
The university says the pastor of Old North United Methodist Church in Evansville, the Reverend Michael Monahan, will officiate.
Rice will be buried with military honors in Parke County, Indiana.
The first president of USI died Wednesday evening in York, Pennsylvania. He was 90 years old.
Rice was named dean of what was then Indiana State University Evansville in 1967. He became president in 1971 and served 27 years before retiring in 1994.
During Rice’s tenure, enrollment at USI grew to more than 7,400.
Under his leadership, the university gained independence from Indiana State in 1985.
