Burn bans have been lifted in Vanderburgh and Warrick counties.
More than a half-inch of badly-needed rain was recorded at Evansville Regional Airport Tuesday night, prompting Vanderburgh County Commissioners and the Evansville EPA to lift the local burn ban.
In a release, the two agencies said they coordinated the issuing and lifting of the ban to reduce conflicting requirements and to improve public safety.
Warrick County officials have also lifted their ban on open burning.
But the Indiana Department of Homeland Security says burn bans continue in Gibson, Pike, Dubois, and Spencer counties due to dry conditions.
The National Weather Service is predicting slight chances for showers over the weekend and into Monday.
