A water main break has prompted officials to issue a boil advisory for much of Evansville’s West Side.
The break was discovered Wednesday afternoon on Red Bank Road near the Lloyd Expressway.
In a tweet, the water and sewer utility said the precautionary boil advisory is in effect for the area north of the Ohio River, south of Mill Road, west of St. Joe Avenue, and east of the Posey County Line.
Customers in the advisory area are urged to boil tap water for at least five minutes before using it for cooking or drinking until the advisory is lifted.
Among those affected by the boil advisory is the University of Southern Indiana.
A tweet from USI said bottled water had been sent to all departments and schools for faculty and staff, and in main academic building lobbies and housing areas for students.
