UTV Accident Kills Woman, Injures 2

Two men face murder charges after the crash of a small utility vehicle in western Kentucky.

Kentucky State Police say 25-year-old Zachary Barker of Utica was operating a utility task vehicle – also known as a side-by-side -- on a gravel road outside Centertown in Ohio County.

51-year-old James Rone of Centertown was operating another UTV and police say he attempted to pass Barker and hit the rear of Rone’s vehicle.

The collision caused Rone to lose control of his UTV and it overturned multiple times.

The KSP says 39-year-old Ashley Carver of Greenville, 44-year-old Tonya Rone of Centertown, and a ten-year-old juvenile were ejected from the vehicle.

The Ohio County Coroner’s Office pronounced Carver deceased at the scene.

Tonya Rone and the child were airlifted to St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville with life-threatening injuries.

Troopers determined Zachary Barker and James Rone were under the influence and both were arrested on charges of Murder, Assault, Wanton Endangerment, and Driving Under the Influence.
