Police Looking For Man Accused Of Dragging Officer

Authorities are looking for the man accused of dragging an Owensboro police officer with a car.

Owensboro police say it happened at about 10:45 Sunday night when officers responded to a drug complaint in the 800 block of Center Street.

In a news release, the OPD says officers observed suspected drug activity between a suspect sitting inside a vehicle and multiple suspects standing on a parking lot.

Police say suspects outside the vehicle fled on foot into an apartment, and the suspect in the vehicle refused to exit.

The OPD say an officer opened the driver side door and tried to get the suspect out but he began fighting with the officer and accelerated, briefly dragging the officer.

The injured officer was taken to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect fled the area and police are still looking for him.

Anyone with information on the incident is urged to call the Owensboro Police Department at 270-687-8888, or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 270-687-8484.
