Fires Damage Two West Side Homes

Pam Doerter

Evansville firefighters battled two house fires in less than 3 hours on the city’s West Side Tuesday morning.

Firefighters were dispatched to the 1900 block of W. Indiana St. at about 8:15 and found flames coming from the two-story house.

Firefighters entered the burning home and extinguished the flames in about a half-hour.

There were no injuries reported. There was also no word on the cause of the fire.

Some crews were still on the scene when another fire was reported about 10 blocks away, in the 1400 block of Fountain.

Initial reports indicated someone might have been inside that home, but there was no word of injuries.

Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire.

The cause was not immediately known.
