Man Arrested After Struggle With Police

ISP

An Evansville man is arrested after allegedly scuffling with a state trooper.

Indiana State Police say a trooper stopped a car on Sunburst Blvd. late Wednesday night after seeing the driver traveling all over the road on U.S. 41 near Riverside.

In a news release, the ISP says the man drove away from the traffic stop and pulled into the Woodland Park Apartment Complex.

The trooper followed the man and ordered him out of the vehicle. He did get out and show his hands -- but began walking toward the apartments.

The trooper tased the man, but said it was ineffective.

The man entered an apartment building but the trooper tackled him and took him into custody with the help of Evansville Police.

The driver was identified as 30-year-old David Johnson, who police say was intoxicated and had a record of being a Habitual Traffic Violator.

Johnson faces numerous charges, including Driving While Intoxicated, Resisting Law Enforcement, and Battery against a Police Officer.
