Evansville-based Berry Global continues to grow.
Berry has announced the completion of its acquisition of RPC Group for a purchase price of about $6.5 billion.
In a news release, the Evansville plastics maker said the deal includes about $4.3 billion in cash paid for the equity interest in RPC and $2.2 billion of net debt and estimated transaction related costs.
Officials say the combination of Berry and RPC “creates a leading global supplier of valued-added protective solutions and one of the world’s largest plastic packaging companies.”
The release says Berry’s combined global footprint will consist of more than 290 locations worldwide, including locations in North and South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia.
The pro forma combined business will employ more than 48,000 people with sales of about $13 billion.
The Evansville-based plastics maker announced last year it was expanding its manufacturing operations in the city by investing $70 million dollars in new equipment and creating up to 150 new jobs by 2020.
The City Council and the Indiana Economic Development Council provided tax breaks.
