One of Evansville’s largest employers has released a “sustainability strategy.”
Berry Global has announced an initiative called Impact 2025, focusing on recycling, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and reducing plastic waste.
In a news release, the plastics maker promises to produce more lightweight products and packaging that is 100 percent “reusable, recyclable, or compostable.”
The company also plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 25 percent by 2025 compared to Berry’s 2016 baseline.
The company says it wants to reduce landfill waste 5 percent per year, and energy and water consumption by 1 percent per year.
Berry also plans to expand and modernize waste infrastructure to increase recovery and prevent loss of plastic into the environment.
And the company says it will increase renewable energy to limit global warming and promote science-based targets.
